Alexander Brewer
February 7, 1931 - November 16, 2010 - In loving memory of Alexander MacInnes Brewer of Woodstock, who passed away peacefully on November 16, 2010 at the Upper River Valley Hospital. Born at Arthurette, New Brunswick on February 7, 1931. Son of the late Harry and Melissa (MacInnes) Brewer. Alex is survived by his loving family, his wife Freda (Steeves) of 59 years, and daughters Barbara (Derrick Taylor) of Barrhead Alberta and Kelly of Barrie Ontario. He is also survived by his sister Jean MacKellar, brothers Albert and Ian and sisters-in-law Florence Mahoney (George) and Marion Elrich (John) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Alex is predeceased by sisters Verna Bradford and Claire MacDonald and brothers George and John. Also, sisters-in-law Marg Pritchard (Albert), Loretta Gibson (Ian) and brothers-in-law Fred Bradford (Verna), Phillip Gallop (Claire), Ron MacDonald (Claire) and Dick MacKellar (Jean). Alex grew up in Plaster Rock N.B. After graduating from high school he moved to Toronto where he married Freda Steeves (of Woodstock) and they raised their family. Alex worked for the Ontario Government for may years. When he retired he and Freda moved back to New Brunswick where they made their home in Northampton. Alex and Freda were active members in St Luke’s Anglican Church in Woodstock. Alex was also a member of the Carleton County Historical Society and a very proud volunteer ambulance driver for St. John Ambulance. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting season, friends and neighbours and was always there to offer his help to anyone who needed it. Mostly, he loved his family and cherished the time he had with them. We love you so much and miss you greatly.
Visitation on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 3 to 5 to 7 to 9 p.m. at The Culberson Funeral Home 188 Connell Street, Woodstock, NB. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 11:00 a.m. at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Woodstock with Ven. Walter Williams officiating. Interment to follow at the Kirk Cemetery, Northampton, New Brunswick.
