After a long courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Dianne on November 17, 2010 at the VG in Halifax, surrounded by her husband and children. Dianne was a wonderful soul, who enjoyed life and all those in it, dedicating a majority of her time providing a warm and loving home for her family and friends.
Dianne was a long time employee with the housekeeping staff of the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney, until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sanford; her sons Stewart (Nicole), BC and Brian (Judy), ON; her daughters Wanda (Billy), Sydney Mines and Wendy (Darren), ON along with nine grandchildren: Jessica, Nathan, Victoria, Brianna, Kali, Vanessa, Logan, Annabella, and Benjamen. She is also survived by her sisters, Yvonne (Ralph), Halifax and Peggy (Bob), Kentville and brothers; Sonny, Halifax, Ronnie, ON and Woody (Sandra), ON.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold Woods & Gladys Embrey.
She will be sadly missed by neighbor & best friend of many years, Greta MacIsaac.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr P. O’Grady, the oncology clinic at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney and the staff at the Hematology clinic at the VG for their wonderful care.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Church in North Sydney with Rev. Jake Andrea officiating, with a reception to follow at the KOC in North Sydney. A private family burial is to take place at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
