It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Heidi Dayle MacRae (Bell) who died peacefully at home on June 20, 2009, surrounded by family and friends. Born August 9, 1969, in Montague, Prince Edward Island, Heidi was the eldest daughter of Jerry (Deidra) Bell and Beth (MacKinnon) Doane (Harvey). Although Heidi was accomplished in many areas, she was first and foremost a loving wife to Todd for 15 years and devoted mother to Emma and Katie. Heidi was very active in her daughters’ lives acting as a volunteer as “class mom” as well many other extra curricular activities. Heidi’s love for life and all the goodness in it was infectious. She truly knew how to find the beauty in the simple things in life. This beauty was easiest seen in her design work. As an accomplished architect, she had an incredible ability to create designs that were fresh and simple while maximizing the natural beauty of the landscape and the surroundings. She is survived by sister, Cara (Jason); brother, Cory (Tanya); father and mother-in-law, Bill and Wendy MacRae; brother-in-law, John (Margie); and nieces and nephews, Tait and Jager Marshall, Victor and Sadie Bell and Jake and Alley MacRae; paternal grandmother, Bertha Bell; step-siblings, Dylan, Jasmine and Eden Bell; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Although Heidi left us much too early, she touched many lives with her genuine concern for everyone around her. She made many special friendships throughout her stops across the country. Those that have been fortunate to share a morning cup of coffee with Heidi will fondly remember her electric smile and kind eyes sneaking out from behind her coffee mug, always volunteering sound and compassionate words. Heidi’s family wishes to express gratitude to the entire staff of the B.C. Cancer Agency for their care, devotion and friendship to Heidi and her family. A celebration of Heidi’s life will be held at West Vancouver United Church on Wednesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at 2062 Esquimalt Ave. West Vancouver, B.C. Donations in memory may be made to the B.C.
