NEW GLASGOW – Mabel Florence MacKay, age 87, of East River Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Warren St., passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010, in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Leslie A. and Florence Mary (Hook) MacLeod.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, former Sunday School teacher, Cub Leader and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by daughter, Marsha (Austin) Sutton, Abercrombie; sons, Scott (Nancy), Bedford; Ross (Loretta), Riverview, N.B.; Glenn (Megan), New Glasgow; grandchildren: Colin and Cale Sutton; Mark, Brian, Peter, Christy, Paul, Jordan and Josh; great-grandchild, Destiny Sutton; brothers, Gordon (Eve), New Glasgow; Harvey (Alma), New Glasgow; Norman (Kitty), Summerside, P.E.I.; brothers-in-law, Warren MacDonald, New Glasgow; Eugene Harvey, Eastern Passage.
She was predeceased by husband, Mervyn; brothers, Roderick, Fred and Douglas; sister, Joan MacDonald. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
