The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Saturday, November 20, 2010, of David E. Morrison, of Summerside, aged 78 years.
Born in Summerside, he was the son of the late Theron and Emma (Eddy) Morrison. David lived all his life in Summerside; graduated from Summerside High School, Horton Academy and Mount Allison University. He began his career with the family business of Morrison & MacRae Ltd. He later joined the Alex Campbell Liberal government as a Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce.
David had a passion for organizing fundraising for charities like the Canadian Cancer Society, MS Society, Alzheimer Society, Huntington Society and the United Way. David was a life member of the Hiram and Lebanon Masonic Lodge and the first president of the P.E.I. Road Builders Association.
He is survived by his wife Elayne (Inman) Morrison; daughters Karen Brockway, Kim Morrison (Carl Gawenus), Lisa (Trent) Paynter; granddaughter Ashley Brockway; brother D.R. (Moyra) Morrison; and by a sister Barb (Vance) Harris.
Resting at the Summerside Presbyterian Church, where visiting hours will be held on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. Interment in People’s Cemetery, Summerside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Summerside Presbyterian Church Building Fund or the College of Piping would be appreciated.
On Wednesday morning, brethren of the Hiram and Lebanon Masonic Lodge will hold a Masonic Memorial Service at the Summerside Presbyterian Church at 9:30 a.m.
