WHITE, Helen Florence – 98, Truro, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born February 4, 1911, in Mulgrave, she was the daughter of the late Clement Gordon and Florence Ida (Crichton) Cutler and widow of the late Alfred George White who was formerly of Alma, Pictou County. Helen spent 25 years operating a general store and gas bar in Tracadie in her earlier years. She was an active member of Saint John The Evangelist Anglican Church, Princess Mary ACW and Myrtle Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star. She leaves to mourn her passing, cousins, Helen (Robertson) Butler, Roxboro, Quebec; Gwen (Robertson) Harris, London, Ontario; Helen (Stan) Barnhill, Belmont; step cousin, Donald (Yvonne) Dunbar, Sherbrooke. Thanks are extended to Dr. Trevor Locke and the staff of Colchester Regional Hospital, Floor 4 South for their compassionate care and also to the many friends, relatives and clergy who visited her. A special thank you to caregivers, Maureen Dixon and Pat MacLellan who assisted her in her home for the past few years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, where Helen’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2009 and where the Myrtle Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star will conduct a tribute service at 1:30 pm Tuesday. Funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Saint John The Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Church Street, Truro, Reverend Lori Ramsey and Helen’s nephew, Reverend Bill White officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Helen’s memory to Saint John The Evangelist Anglican Church or Order of The Eastern Star are welcomed.
