It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and friend. Carroll A. Lutz passed away Nov. 23, 2010, in the Northside General Hospital.
Carroll was born in Morristown, Kings County, N.S., on Sept. 27, 1918, he was the son of the late Malby and Edna (Tufts) Lutz, he grew up in Lake George.
Carroll was a veteran of the Second World War, he enlisted in 1942 and went overseas and served as a truck driver until the end of the war.
In 1948, he married Louise and bought a farm in the Annapolis Valley. Carroll later worked at CFB Greenwood as a carpenter’s helper and plumber’s helper until he got his plumbing licence. He retired in 1980 and moved to Cape Breton, a place he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Louise (MacLennan); sons, Gavin (Debbie), Waterloo, Ont., Floyd (Diane), Calgary; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ray) Bunce, Avondale, Arizona, Danny (Caroline) Lutz, Quebec, Nikki (Andrew) Harrison, Toronto, Krystal (Neil) Lutz, Kristopher (Karrie) Lutz, both of Calgary. Great-grandchildren, Olivia and Tyson; sisters, Pearl Jefferson, Berwick, Daisy Austin, Ottawa; several nieces and nephews.
Carroll was predeceased by sisters, Ethel (Alex) Middleton, Kentville, Marion (Wilfred) Nauffts, Halifax, sisters-in-law, Catherine MacCuaig, Ruby Brown and brother-in-law, Daniel MacLennan.
Thanks to Dr. William MacDonald for his wonderful care. We would like to thank all the helpers and workers who helped at Northside General and the sitters for Carroll. It was really appreciated.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 26 with a funeral service 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 27 both in Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Rev. Ritchie Robinson will officiate. A reception will follow the funeral service in the Florence Legion, Branch No. 83. Interment in New Campbelltown Cemetery.
