It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn announce her passing in St. Catherines, Ontario on November 20, 2010. Predeceased by her husband Gerald (2003), infant daughters Vera and Shirley and son Gordon, and brothers Ralph and Richard Gates. Loving mother of Jerry (California), Donna Hansen (California), Ralph (Della), Reggie, Barbara Journeay Cole, Gary (Pauline) of Ontario and David (Sheila) of Nova Scotia. Cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and will be missed by brother Wilfred Gates (Ontario) and sister Olive Hill (Nova Scotia). Evelyn was born on November 21, 1914 in Weymouth, Nova Scotia daughter of the late Douglas and Cora (Hill) Gates. Evelyn worked for the New Brunswick protestant orphanage in Saint John for a number of years.
Interment is being held on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Riverside Baptist Church in Weymouth, Nova Scotia.
