Passed away as he lived in quiet dignity along side his loving wife of 62 years, Veronica (nee Cummings). Leaving to celebrate his life are his three children: Edward (Cecilia), Wanda (Hazen), Gordon (Vivienne) and his four beautiful granddaughters: Kerri (Graham), Kristy (Paul, Brenda (Jonathan) and Little Darcy. Also leaving to mourn brother Malc (Viola); sisters: Mary (John Schliesman), Jean (Walter Crocker); sisters-in-law: Venus, Marie, Marie and Irene. Predeceased by brothers John, Sylvester, Les, Bill, Harold and sister Joan.
Rocky was a standout hockey player for Bell Island in the 1930's and 40's and is only one of a handful of individuals to win multiple championships for the Island. Gordon enjoyed watching hockey into the late nights, spending time with his family and in his earlier years was an avid salmon fisherman and outdoorsman. Gord touched the lives of many people with his warm heart and generosity. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, Thursday 7-9 and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
