SMITH, Robert Ashley, Bear Point, Shelburne County passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his home. Born on April 3, 1918 in Bear Point, he was a son of the late Ashley and Bessie (Nickerson) Smith. Robbie was a veteran of WWII and he adored his beloved Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 148. His days were filled with watching and feeding his birds, bowling, watching curling and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. Robbie's greatest pride and joy was in his children, grand-children and great grandchildren and he was truly thrilled to call Allan aboard the boat during crab fishing or just to chat. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Survived by sons, Allan (Ann), Clark's Harbour, Troy (Tanya), Newellton; daughters, Ethel (Royden) Nickerson, Centerville, Marsha (John) Brannen, Centerville, Bonnie (Ken Fraser), Sherose Island, Heather (George Doucette), Centerville; brothers, Herman, Doctor's Cove, Harold (Vera), Atwood's Brook; sisters, Norma Ross, South Side, Isabelle (Kenneth) Devine, Woods Harbour, Eleanor Atwood, Brass Hill; 13 grandchildren; five great grand-children. He was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey, Delmar and infant twin, Russell; sisters Stella and Callie Mae. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 23 from H. Huskilson's Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Pastor Danny Smith officiating. Interment was in the Atwood's Brook Cemetery.
