Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, June 21, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, Claude Welsh of Islington, in his 79th year. He is predeceased by his wife, Delilah (2003), granddaughter, Claudette Marie Reid (1990), parents: Adelena and William James Welsh, sister Carrie (Jim) Crocker, brothers: Wayne and Wendell and brothers-in-law: Hobart Sooley, Gerald Cooper, Eldred Reid and Elwin (Violet) Bryant. Leaving to mourn are his children: Wayne (Peggy), Corner Brook, Lisa (Wilbert) Reid, Islington, as well as his grandchildren: Michael (Amanda), St. John’s, Brian (Ashley) and Gina (Mark), Corner Brook, Tara-Lee and Terry (Hilary), Islington; one precious great-granddaughter, Victoria, Corner Brook, as well as his pride and joy, Maddy. He is also lovingly remembered by sisters: Norma Sooley, Islington, Doris Cooper, Corner Brook, Marie (Edward) Sommers, Carbonear, Jenny (Ambrose) Hynes, and brother, Bill (Maxine) Welsh, B.C.; sisters-in-law: Louie Jane Reid, Ont., Mary (Garf) Tiller, Corner Brook, as well as a large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Resting at the Anglican Church Hall in Islington on Monday, June 22 at 8 p.m. until time of funeral. The funeral will be held from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Heart’s Delight, on Wednesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery, Heart’s Delight.
