On June 20, 2009, Olwin Wayne, born Wayne Douglas Paul Crockett, passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. Olwin was 62 years old and was the son of the late Marjorie (nee Farrell) and Ralph Crockett of Charlottetown.
Olwin graduated from high school in Fall River, Nova Scotia, and then entered a four-year course in Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax. He graduated after four years at the college. He then furthered his study of arts in Minnesota, U.S.A., and upon his return taught arts in the school system of Newfoundland for many years.
He returned to Charlottetown and had been living there for the past several years. Olwin was an artist with a special talent in portraits. He will be missed by all his friends. He is survived by an aunt, Jean (Alvin) MacRae and several cousins.
Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2 p.m. until time of funeral.
