Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, November 25, 2010, Catherine Layman of Northern Bay, age 96 years. Predeceased by husband: Patrick; son: Will Joe; daughters: Loretta, Genevieve and Tekakwitha; parents: John and Mary Hannan; sisters: Nell, Veronica, Elizabeth, and Margaret; brothers: Edward, William and Jack. Left to mourn, seven daughters: Mary King, Montreal, PQ, Irene Howard, St. John's, Leone (Bill) Languay, Hamilton, ON, Pauline (Michael) Codere, Montreal, PQ, Geraldine (Harrison) Smith, Bishop's Cove, Marion (Allan) Lilleoks, Scarborough, ON and Monica (George) Knight, Victoria Harbour, ON; four sons: Morgan (Mary), Saint John, NB, Eugene, Scarborough, ON, Jerome, Calgary, AB and Perry, Brampton, ON; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Mona Layman, Alberta; one brother: Ted Hannan, Old Perlican; sister-in-law: Anastasia Hannan, Low Point; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay. Fr. Pio Sumbilon conducted the funeral Mass on Monday, November 29 at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Northern Bay. Interment took place in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Northern Bay. Donations in her memory may be made to the Corpus Christi R.C. Cemetery, Northern Bay.
