Catherine Flora (MacQueen) MacDonald, 97, Morrison Street, Glace Bay, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Glace Bay Healthcare Center after a short illness.
Born in Front Lake, she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Sarah MacQueen.
Catherine was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Ethel Bennett Guild and the WMS.
Surviving are her son, John; daughter, Mora Ann; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, William A. MacDonald; brothers, Dan, Duncan, Johnnie, William, Hughie and Norman; sisters, Effie MacAulay and Margaret MacDonald. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay on Friday 2 p.m., with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Following the burial, a reception will take place at St. Paul’s church.
Family flowers only. Memorials may be made to the building fund of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
