PICTOU – Margaret Elizabeth Bailiff (Hartling) Shea, 92, of Pictou, passed away June 22, 2009, in Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou.
Born in Three Brooks, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Baird) Hartling.
Wife of the late Bart Shea, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Margaret ran a convenience store on Welsford Street for many years. In her younger days Mum loved to play bingo and cards.
She is survived by daughter, Myra (Bart Ebbinge), Pictou; sons: Alvin (Marguerite), Pictou; Brian “Bart” (Frances), Stonehurst, Lunenburg County; Vern (Pat), Pictou; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by daughters, Betty Carson, Dean Ahearn; son, Harvey; grandson, Jackie Carson; sons-in-law, Cal O’Callaghan, Warren “Skippy” Carson; sisters, Mae Langille, Helen MacDonald; brothers, Harold and Vernon Hartling; half-brothers, Harvey and Alfie Bingley.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Mary-Beth Moriarity officiating. Burial will be in Central Caribou Cemetery.
