Angus Reid
Born In: Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: Lakefield, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: November 29th, 2010
Peacefully, with his family by his side, in hospital, Perth, on the evening of Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, in his 67th year.
Angus Reid, born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on Dec. 17, 1943. Angus was the dear son of the late Angus Norman MacDonald, and Hilda Doyle. Beloved husband for over 51 glorious years to Melvina Reid, (née Parsons), of Lakefield.
Cherished father of David (Linda) Reid and Deborah (Scott) Reid, both of Toronto, Carol Anne Newman, of Peterborough and Linda (Tom) Reid, of Perth.
Angus was the proud and thankful grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of six grandchildren.
He will be sadly and sorely missed by all of his siblings, his nieces and his nephews.
Angus was well respected for his attention to detail and his craftsmanship in his many years as an auto body specialist for Belmont Chev-Olds.
In addition to his work, Angus was known as a consistent Standard-Bred Jockey, and he developed quite a name for himself in the horse-racing circles in Ontario and beyond. The discipline Angus displayed was due in a large extent to his many years of tough mental conditioning and physical training in Tae-Kwon-Do, a sport Angus excelled in, to the rank of Black Belt, 6th Degree.
A consummate family man, above all, Angus cherished every moment with his loving family.
To honour Angus and his philosophy, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Cremation has taken place, with an interment of ashes to take place in Lakefield, some time in the spring of 2011.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be so greatly appreciated.
Mr. Reid's funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the O'Dacre Family Funeral Home, Perth. 613-267-3082.
