Joseph Hollman Meagher Reid
With his loving wife at his side and surrounded by his cherished family, Joseph Hollman Meagher Reid passed away on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at his home after a hard fought battle.
Beloved husband of Margaret Diana (Swift) Reid, father of Susan Reid-Elliott (Wes), Joseph Reid (Tanya), Laura Reid, Edward Reid (Jessica). Grandfather to Mackenzie Margaret, Tavia Brooke, Madison Jean, Lily Jean and Lyric Angelina. Brother to Marilyn Beattie (Jim), Jack Reid (Daphna), Darrell Reid (Lynn), Greg Reid (Kate), Kathy Stewart, Shelley Reid and predeceased by brother Gary Reid and brother-in-law D. Reid Stewart. Son-in-law of the late John and Margaret Swift and brother-in-law of Barbara Ann Swift.
Joe was born in Truro on June 23, 1945 to the late Harold and Jean Reid. After serving two years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Joe then worked for Bell Canada for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Joe then successfully operated his own company, Brantford Tele-Jack, until closing the business in 2009 due to illness.
Joe was also a published poet. Although Joe's family remained his first priority, his other interests included history, electronics, boxing and woodworking. According to Joe's wishes, a private family service will be held with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford, Ont.
