Ray Shirley of Plaster Rock passed away peacefully at his home on December 4, 2010. Born at Anderson Road, NB on April 6, 1935, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Agnew) Shirley. Ray leaves behind his wife of 52 years Joan Shirley (Edgar); his children Kevin Shirley (Donna) of Sisson Ridge, Karen Batt (Daryl Schmidt) of St. Albert, AB, Brian Shirley (Tina) of Grand Falls; sisters Bertha of Nova Scotia, Madeline of Alberta, Lillian of Alberta; brothers Hughie of Perth-Andover, Kenny and Clayton, both of Nova Scotia; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Reg and Norman Shirley; sister Greta Hanson. Ray was always active playing sports, such as curling, softball, and golf. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
In accordance with Ray's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Three Brooks Cemetery. For those who wish, a memorial donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
