PICTOU/GRANTON - Bond, Sheila Emma, 64, of Pictou, and formerly of Granton, passed away December 3, 2010, in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou.
Born in Cape Spear, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Thorton Dorothy (Allen) Ogden.
A longtime employee of National Seafoods Ltd., Sheila used to enjoy knitting and spending time in the kitchen, making pies and donuts with her mother during the holidays. She was very family-oriented and whenever given the opportunity to spend time with her large family she would be there with a smile.
While raising her family she attended both Calvary Temple and Christian Fellowship Church, and enjoyed listening to Gospel Hymns.
Sheila is survived by her children: Janice Bond, Ontario; James (Eleanor) Bond, Ontario; Joanne (Robert) MacCormack, Bayview; Joyce (Dan) Rankin, Pictou; Jason Bond, Ontario; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters, Ester Provencher, Truro; Mildred Plamondon, Westville, Faith Splane, British Columbia; brothers: Moody Ogden, Westville; Dale Ogden, Halifax; Clinton Ogden, Ontario; Tim Ogden, Cape Breton; Mark Ogden, Alberta; Roy Ogden, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; sisters, Eunice Ogden, Brenda Blackburn; and brother, Rick Ogden.
A memorial service will take place 3 p.m. Tuesday from McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou. Burial will follow in Stella Maris Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
We would like to thank the staff of Shiretown Nursing Home, for the gentle and loving care they gave our Mom during her last years. Their thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten.
