Passed peacefully away on Sunday, June 21, 2009, surrounded by her sons, Vida Lily Hale (nee Head), age 90. Predeceased by her husband Gordon J. Hale in 2001. Leaving to celebrate her long life: sons James (Marilyn) of Kelligrews, Gary (Lynn) of Calgary, Ian (Janet) of St. John's and Doug (Karen) of Portugal Cove; grandchildren: David and Jo-Anne; Michael, Jordan and Alexander; Tyler and Jenna; Alicia. Also sister-in-law Norma Head, lifelong friend Doris Snow, and a wide circle of nieces and nephews, family and friends. In Mom’s words: “May God Bless and Keep Each One of You.” Born October 15, 1918, Vida was raised in Comfort Cove; as a young woman she moved to St. John’s. Following the Second World War, she married her Change Islands’ sweetheart on September 22, 1949. They moved to Gander in 1956, then moved to St. John’s in 1961 where they raised their family. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 10-Noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24. Funeral service to take place 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from Barrett’s Chapel. Interment in the Field of Honor, Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
