It is with deep regret that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, Russell Chiasson, on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late Claude and Adele Chiasson.
He was employed at Devco for 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret (Ward) Chiasson; his children, Russell (Nancy) Chiasson, Albert Bridge, Karen Chiasson and Ricky Chiasson, both of Glace Bay; his six grandchildren, Brendan Burke, Leeanne Burke, Brittany Chiasson, Laura Chiasson, Jarred Chiasson and Kyle Chiasson. He is also survived by his siblings, Wilfred J. Chiasson, Ontario, Simon (Mooney) Chiasson, John W. (Amelda Terry), Betty Lever, and Sharon (Eddie) Burke, all of Glace Bay; as well as the extended Ward family. He will be especially missed by his loving dog, Dante.
Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his daughter, Anna Marie Burke and a brother, Jimmy Chiasson.
Cremation has taken place.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. followed by memorial mass at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu, with Fr. Patrick O'Neil officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
