John Sydney Chandler - 95, of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John and Amanda (Drysdale) Chandler. He had been employed with the CNR in Halifax, retiring after 44 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Duggan, Halifax; Shirley (Murray) Deal, Lower Sackville; two sons, John (Yolande), Winnipeg; Donald, Coldbrook; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Florence Smale; five sisters, Gertrude, Lillian, Ruby, Freda and Clara; a brother, William. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Grand View Manor - Recreation Department. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Rainforth and Wagner Units for all of their care and compassion.
