Mr. Roger John Burt P. Eng, CRSP was born in Wokingham, England on December 11, 1948; He came to Nova Scotia when he was a young boy with his parents, John and Dorothy (Merralls) Burt. Roger worked his way through Dalhousie University for his Bachelor of Science and Nova Scotia Technical College for his degree in electrical engineering. In January of 1974, he worked at Stelco Steel Co. Limited in Hamilton, Ontario, until June of 1979. He then went to Stanley Precision Inc. from 1979 to July 1985 as engineering manager. From 1985 to November of 1989, he worked for Westroc Industries Ltd. as plant manager. Roger then moved to New Brunswick and was employed by Eastern Gypsum Inc. from February 1990 to 1993 as Plant Manager. Then in March of 1994, he went to WorkSafe NB as Health and Safety Consultant for 16 years. Roger loved his work and gave 110% in every aspect of his life. Christine met Roger through a Health and Safety Program. When he walked into her life she knew he was the man she would some day marry. It took years for him to say "I Do" but in that time she got to know the man who would one day become her husband. He was kind, thoughtful, loving and devoted to Christine and his work. She couldn't have found a better friend who was always there for her. He treated her with respect and spoiled her with thoughtful gifts and cards that spoke of his love. Roger loved crossword puzzles, certain TV shows and listening to his record collection. His work was his life until he was recently married in 2009. He and his wife, Christine, would travel to places Roger had been. They honeymooned in the Bahamas and soaked up the sun in Puerto Plata. They enjoyed every moment they were together. Christine's memories will last a lifetime. When Rog became too ill to work; they spent day and night together as a loving couple who took care of one another's needs. Her love for her husband grew so large, her heart hurt. There was nothing they wouldn't have done for each other. He taught her so much in so little time. She will cherish their life together till the day she joins him at Heaven's gate. Then they will have all eternity to love each other. His favorite saying was "Stick with me, Kid" that goes without saying she will stick by his side forever. Roger's friend, Barry Roberts and Peter Morgan were close friends who always came to call on his advice and to catch up on what was going on in his life. Roger has many friends whom he met through his work. His knowledge and passion was always greatly appreciated. His friends thought very highly of him, He was an outgoing guy and a caring friend who you could talk to about anything. He was one of a kind. He always had a smile, a joke and a hug. Roger John Burt of Onondago Street Oromocto was a loving and devoted husband who passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Christine on December 2, 2010 at the Oromocto Hospital at the age of 61. Roger will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Christine who loved him deeply. He will also live on in the hearts of his sister, Susan Babb of Ontario; his sisters-in-law: Norma Perry and her husband Mike and Brenda Ryder (Joey Hebert); his brothers-in-law: Wayne Ryder and his wife Dorothy, Barry Ryder and his wife Wendy all of Cumberland Bay, Brian Ryder and his wife Della of Waterboro and Gordon and his wife Sheila Ryder of Lower Cambridge; his parents-in-law, Robert and Betty Ryder of Waterboro; as well as several nieces, nephews, close friends and co-workers.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, Sussex, from where visitation was held. A Celebration of Roger's life was held from Wallace Community Chapel on December 06, 2010 with Aubrey Trail officiating. The Musical Selections: "Layla", "From This Moment", "With a Little Help From My Friends" and "Up Where We Belong" were provided by CD and "Where the Roses Never Fade" was provided by Junior and Doreen Smith. The Honorary Pallbearers were: Barry Roberts, Peter Morgan, Kevin Whelton and Ed MacFarlane.
