1918-2009. RSM (MM) 166th Royal Nfld. Regiment. Passed peacefully away at home on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Predeceased by wife Eva, sisters Margaret, Ruth and brother George. Leaving to mourn Eric (Winnie), Barbara, Derek (Cassie), William (Mindy); special grandchildren: Philip, Natalie, Jason, Eric, Doug, Steven and Joanna plus 10 very special great-grandchildren and extended family (Anne, Phil). He also leaves to mourn sister Jean Haines, Kaslo, B.C. and brother Donald Baggs, New Hampshire, and many other nieces, nephews and a large circle of special friends. Eric was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 56; the Commercial Travellers Association; the BPO Elks Club No. 245; and, the Nfld. PC Party. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 25th. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 26 at Barrett’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at the Field of Honour, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Last Post fund; The Elks and Royal Purple Sick Children\'s Fund; the SPCA; or a charity of one’s choice.
