Mary Gillis

PICTOU - It is with deep sorrow that the family of Mary Frances Gillis, 96, of Pictou, Nova Scotia, announces her passing on Saturday, December 11, 2010.
Born in Inverness, Cape Breton, Mary Frances and her young family moved to Pictou in 1953 where she worked for many years at the lobster factory as well as the Fisheries School. She was a long time member of the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church in Pictou.
Mary Frances was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Archie, as well as by six brothers and five sisters.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Norman, John and Joseph (Sue) grandchildren Jimmy, Kevin (Stacey), Brian, and Michael, as well as great-grandchildren Ryan and Claire. Aunt Frances will be greatly missed by nephew Wayne Dowding (Sue), great-nephew Christopher, and great-niece Lauren.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church with Father Evo DiPierro officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church.
