FEHR - Wow, how does one put into words the life story of Pete Fehr? Well, here goes...Peter Alvin was born on November 8, 1951, to Isaac & Margaret Fehr. Even as a young child he was always curious, he had to know how everything worked. As he grew up he worked hard, played hard and loved for life. Anything he did, he would put everything he had into it. At the age of 20, Pete felt something missing in his life and found out that what he needed most was Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of his life. He followed Christ, and was baptized. Shortly after this time he went to his cousins wedding and met the girl he planned to marry, Liz Buekert. They dated for nine months and were married on June 9, 1973. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Lisa and Ginger, whom Pete loved very much. Pete was a jack-of-all-trades, from farming, to dairy and grain, mechanics, construction, plumbing, electrical, and the list goes on...If he couldn't fix it, well then it just couldn't be fixed. Pete could be found full of grease, gyprock dust or just plain dirty. If he cut himself, did he get a bandaid, oh no, not if black tape and paper towel was handy. He was always tinkering on something. As the girls grew up, and got married, Pete found another joy, GRANCHILDREN. He would often scold me for spending to much on them, but when I was done, he would start. You would find him checking something out under the hood and have a little shadow named Sethy asking many of the same questions he had as a child. You could also find any of the grandchildren snuggling with Grandpa, eating plain chips and watching kids shows on TV, as Grandpa always had his stash by the loveseat. He loved the times shared with each of his treasures, his grandchildren. Pete loved sports, football (even if the Riders lost because they wouldn't listen to his play calls), or pretty much any other sport. His curious nature also lead him wanting to know more about the Bible, so we went to Briercrest Bible College for two years, 1988 - 1990. Although it had its challenges, Pete loved to study his Bible and had many great discussions about what he had just discovered. As I'm sure most of you know, Pete had an opinion on pretty much everything, but if it was in the Bible, well, then the argument was over. Pete had a lot of facts stored in his brain. One day a friend asked, "Pete, how come you know so much?", to which he replied, "Well, if I don't know something, I just make it up!" Pete was always active in church in various positions, but I think his favorites were teaching Sunday School or Bible study and playing his guitar for worship. Throughout our 37 and a half years of marriage, we have had many dear friends and family who now share our loss. I want you all to know, that we treasure your love and friendship, more than words can say. Pete went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, while doing something he enjoyed, helping friends. Pete goes ahead of us who grieve and must remain here awhile longer his wife, Liz; daughters, Lisa (Nathan) Adrian and Ginger (Curtis) Heinrichs; his 7 grandchildren, George, Peter, Amber, Brooklyn, Elijah, Megan and Seth; his mom, Margaret Fehr; his sisters, Betty (Pat) Newburgh, Hilda Dyck; many nieces & nephews; and a few "special and adopted" kids, Joe, Celia and Victoria Kunze and Alex MacLean. He was predeceased by his dad, Isaac, in 1980. I would like to thank everyone for your love, prayers and friendship. God Bless You All. Pete...we love you and miss you...but we will see you soon. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at 2:00 pm, from the Living Faith Fellowship Church, Herbert, SK with Pastor Donovan Epp officiating. "Faithful One", "You are My All in All", "Here I Am to Worship", "How Deep the Father's Love" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by the congregation. The life history and tribute was brought by Tony Brennan with Jake Peters also sharing a tribute. The ushers in the church were Ron Schultz and Elmer Wiebe. The Honorary pallbearers were Jake & Diane Peters, Donovan & Tracy Epp, Harry & Robin Friesen, Ken & Kathy Siemens, Randall & Linda Fast, Randy & Delores Ens, Helen Thiessen and Bev Strand. The Interment Service was held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Don Fast, Les Engen, Lawrence Newburgh, Alex MacLean, Jason Dyck, Nathan Adrian and Curtis Heinrichs. In memory of Pete Fehr, donations made to the Cypress Bible Camp or to the West Bank Bible Camp would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
