Phyllis King
KING - Phyllis Viola of Swift Current, SK and formerly of Ponteix, SK, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK at the age of 84 years. Phyllis was born September 27, 1926 in Parry, SK and attended school there. She married Walter King on November 2, 1951 in Milestone, SK. The couple then moved to Ponteix to farm in 1952. It was there that they raised their family of four children. Phyllis enjoyed quilting and embroidery, visiting with neighbours, playing cards and a good game of bowling. After Walter had his stroke Phyllis moved to Swift Current to one of the units in the Prairie Pioneer Lodge. From there she spent some time in Herbert, then moved to the Palliser Regional Care Centre in July of 2009 where she resided until her passing. Phyllis is survived by her son Gordon; daughter Evelyn (Claude) Lambert; Son Morris; Son Percy (Helena); grandsons Scott, Bradley (Laurette), Steven; brothers Delbert, Ivan (Dorothy), Melvin (Mathilda), Stan, Raymond (Iris) Ulriksen; sisters-in-law Lois Ulriksen, Marilyn (Larry) Ulriksen; brother-in-law Jerome Orvik as well as numerous neices and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Walter King; daughter-in-law Linda (Gordon); parents Fred and Esther Ulriksen; step mother Sally; sister Hazel Orvik; brothers James and Elmer; nephew Brian; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alma (Russel) Hickling, Louise (Walter) Young, Muriel Wellbrock, Delbert (Ruth) King, Willard (Mable) King and nieces Gloria Hilts and Greorgina King. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, December 13th, 2010 from the First United Church, Swift Current, SK with Shirley Wilson officiating. The organist was Patti McCleary and the Pallbearers were Steve Gillis, Brian Gillis, Robert King, Vern Davidson, Norman Sutherland and Charles Lamb. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Phyllis' memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
