December 15, 2010

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Estelle DeCap.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two sons: Gilbert (Gina) and Richard (Lori); five grandchildren: Patrick (Shelley), Scott (Nadine), Matthew (Goda), Shannon and Emma; her brother George (Irene); her sister Delores (Andy); sisters-in-law Connie and Esther; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her mother and father, her brother Adrian, her brother Leo and in 2009 her beloved husband Marcel.

Estelle was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, August 17, 1932, the youngest of five children. She spent all of her younger years in this small community. In 1952 she married the love of her life Marcel, and for the first few years they lived in Moose Jaw where their first son Gilbert was born. Five years later they were blessed with another son Richard. In 1959 they moved to Kamloops, and eventually to Valleyview, where they raised their family. Mom was very active in her boy's school and sports. She volunteered countless hours at Saint Ann's Academy with their annual bake sales and bazaars. She was always helping with their sporting events as scorekeeper and equipment manager.

Her Catholic faith was very important to her and this year she received her 50 year pin as a member of the CWL. You could always count on her to contribute to bake sales and fundraising events.

She loved her family, and spent all of her years gardening, baking and caring for her family. She was always happiest in the presence of her family. She was very proud of her grandchildren and supported them in all their sporting endeavours. One of her greatest joys was her granddaughter Emma, who brought a smile to her face and sparkle to her eye whenever she was with her.
Although these last eight months have been some of the hardest for her, the family would like to thank the staff on 5 North, Dr. Hamilton, Dr. Ward at Hillside Centre, for their care and understanding. We would also like to thank the loving and caring staff at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, for the incredible kindness and care you gave mom on her journey home.

Prayers will be recited on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 2797 Sunset Drive. The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron will celebrate the Funeral Mass at the church on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.

Should friends desire, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 201 - 635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2B3, or the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops, B.C., V2E 2S9, in memory of Mrs. DeCap would be appreciated.
