MORLEY JAEGER
Morley Richard Jaeger passed away suddenly surrounded by family on Sunday, Father’s Day, June 21, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Morley grew up in Regina and after a short career in nursing, he finally settled on a long and varied career in broadcasting. Before moving to Prince Albert in 1971, Morley worked in various stations across Canada and with his family finally settled at CKBI Radio and Television becoming the Voice of the Raiders. After more than 30 years as a broadcaster and coming up the phrase “You Know the Score”, and turning down many offers from various stations across Canada and the NHL, Morley retired and started his own landscaping business to stay and serve the city he had come to love. He also served two terms as Alderman for the City of Prince Albert. Morley was inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, for his contribution to sports in Prince Albert. This was a very proud moment for him. The Prince Albert Raiders also honored him last November by having the broadcast booth he spent so much time in, named the “Morley Jaeger Broadcast Booth”. This touched him deeply. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Margret Jaeger and his brother Daniel. Morley is survived by his loving family: his wife of 48 years Sharon (nee Smith); his six children La Velle Vinnish, Bradley (Linda) Jaeger, Darcey Jaeger, Stacey (Cory) Czychowski, adopted daughters Glenda (Ryan) Morton and Leeta (Don) Harms; his thirteen grandchildren Michael, Zachari and Joshua Vinnish, David and Mathew Khoob, Amanda and Matthew Hayduk, Steven and Kristin Czychowski, Rachel and Cole Morton, Kyle and Hailey Harms; his two brothers and two sisters Janette Walsh of Edmonton, AB, George (Sandra) Jaeger of Regina, SK, Sharon (Don) Green of Van Texas and Peter (Shirley) Jaeger of Calgary, AB and various nieces and nephews; his good friends Simon and Carin Woroniuk and Norman and Maria McCallum will miss him. It is the family’s request that in lieu of floral tributes memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in Morley’s name. Thank you. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29 at the Army, Navy, Airforce Auditorium, 25 – 11 Street West, Prince Albert. So until we see you again Dad, You Know the Score. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
