Lorraine Gray
Lorraine Theresa Gray of Poodiac passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 14, 2010 at the age 74. Lorraine was born in Saint John on October 29, 1936; she was the daughter of the late Clarence Earl and Geraldine Mary (Lavigne) London and was the wife of the late Vincent Gray who passed away in 1992. She is also predeceased by her sister Almeda in 1937. Lorraine grew up on the east side of Saint John. She began her career in environmental services in her teens, starting with the Tuberculosis Hospital on Bayside Drive in the 70's. When it closed in 1976, Lorraine went to work at the General Hospital in Saint John. In 1982, the General Hospital closed and Lorraine went to work at the Saint John Regional Hospital from where she retired in 1996 after 37 years of service. Lorraine loved animals and had many dogs and cats throughout her life. She also loved music which was evident by the number of CD's she had collected. She loved to sing, dance and even karaoke. She also loved to garden and travel. She is survived by her daughters Valerie Gray (Chester Chamberlain) of Quispamsis and Tricia Watson (Weyman) of Willow Grove; son Frank Wells of Saint John, her brother Clarence "Sonny" London (Audrey) of Saint John; her sister Jane Bergdahl (William) of Quispamsis; six grandchildren Joseph, Michael, Matthew, Rob, Brent and Eric; two great grandchildren Ryan and Ruthie; sisters-in-law Mary Gray of Poodiac, Dolly Jones of Ontario, Joan McGinnis of Nova Scotia and Mamie Gray of Saint John; niece She-ra and nephew Daniel; and several nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday December 22, 2010 at 3 p.m. Visitations will be held from 12 p.m until service time.
