Lorrena Edna Lowthers, age 81, of Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 19, 1929, in Lower Vaughan, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Laura (Wile) Wile. Lorrena will always be remembered as someone with an amazing ability to overcome. Dealing with many health issues, she constantly surprised even the doctors with her strength and resilience. She was quietly generous supporting many charities, especially proud to be able to sponsor her World Vision Child, Nairi. She was a beautiful lady who took great pride in her garden and her home. Nothing was more important to her than her family, who loved and appreciated her. Lorrena is survived by her son, Irvin (Patricia) Lowthers, Three Mile Plains and their children, Wendy Lowthers, Ottawa, ON; Melanie (Reynaldo) Hernandez, Surrey, BC; her daughter, Jean (George) Smith, Newmarket, ON and their children, Brad (Sarah) Smith, Aurora, ON; Amy Smith, Bracebridge, ON; 4 great grandsons, Noah, Zach and Cooper Smith; Mason Hernandez; sisters, Hannah (Avard) Jordan and Melbra Trenholm; brothers, Paul (Pat), Harold (Marguerite), Daniel (Dot), David, Edwin (Denise), and Bernard Wile; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Reuben and Laura (Wile) Wile; she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Bernard Lowthers (1988); great granddaughter, Alyssa Hernandez; sister, Grace Riley; brothers, Leslie Wile and Everett Wile. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Edwin Wile officiated. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, followed bny a reception in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street.
