Edna Blanche McDonough, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Saint John Residential Hospice "Bobby's Hope House". She was born February 12, 1927 in Miscouche, PEI and was the daughter of the late Cecil and Mary (Gamble) MacNeill. Blanche was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She had retired as a Dietary Supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her family and lifelong friends especially Lois Ingersoll, Edna Parkin and Ethel Langlais. Blanche enjoyed playing cards at her church and was always available when anyone needed help. She always looked forward to summer holidays at her old homestead in PEI. She is survived by her loving children Clifford McDonough (Lynn) of Saint John, Carol McDonough of Saint John and Nancy LaPlante (Jacques) of Musquash; grandchildren Mark McDonough, Neil McDonough, Eric McDonough, Kathleen Derrah, Timothy McDonough, Sheryl McNeil, Carol McNeil, Shelley McNeil, Michael Garland, Karrie Brideau and Chrissie Muss (Steve); great grandchildren Devon, Hailey, Cameron, Marilyn, Jennifer, Kelsey, Hannah, Sheldon, Konnor and Caitlyn. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Lillian Harrison of Saint John, Elizabeth McNab (Frank) of PEI, Lena McDonough of Harvey Station, Ann Dahl (Bob) of PEI and Sid Bullen of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Basil McDonough, son Robert McDonough, sisters Clara Compton, Arita Hansen and Mazie Campbell, brothers Jack MacNeill and Elmer MacNeill, grandson David Emery Garland and great-granddaughter Makayla.
It is Blanche's request that in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Greater Saint John would be greatly appreciated, as this is where Blanche spent her last few days in palliative care with wonderful care. Donations to your charity of choice would also be appreciated. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 and Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
