At the Grand Falls General Hospital, December 19, 2010, Mr. Oneil M. Côté of Drummond passed away at the age of 88 years. He was the husband of the late Simone Coulombe and had been a resident of Mont-Assomption of Saint-Andre. Born at Caribou, Maine in 1922, he was a son of the late Martial and Annie (Michaud) Côté. Mr. Côté farmed for 40 years before passing on the farming operations to his sons. He was a former President of the Club des Vrais Amis and a member of the Grand Falls Golden Age Club. He was a director of the Caisse Populaire de Drummond Ltée. for a number of years and was also President of the National Farmers Union and a director of the Milk Marketing Board. He is survived by seven children, Irène Roy (Donald), John (Marlin) of Grand Falls, Yves (partner Jeannine) of Drummond, Guy (Jacinthe) of Saint-Andre, Gilles-Pierre (Ginette), Allain (Ginette) of Drummond and Irma Mulherin (Jimmy) of Grand Falls, 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two brothers, Aimé (Cécile) and Fernand of Bristol, Connecticut, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a young daughter, Ida, brothers and sisters, Herby, Ovide, Henri, Louise Castonguay, Edna Woodall, Lilianne Bourgoin, Esther Godreau, Laurette Morin and Emelie Lang. He was also predeceased by a dear friend, Dora Deschênes.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. His funeral service will be held Thursday, December 23rd at 11 a.m. from the Saint-Michel Roman Catholic Church, Drummond, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
