The death of Muriel E. Steeves of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 21st, 2010. Born on March 7th, 1918 in Lincoln, NB she was the daughter of the late Hanford and Ellilah (Crawford) Allen. Muriel was also a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church where she and her late husband, Walter William "Bill" Steeves attended for many years. She is survived by her son, Walter William Steeves (Connie) and daughter, Lydie Mawhinney (Bud) all of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Lisa Power (Joe) of Ottawa, ON and Peter Mawhinney of South Carolina as well as Heather Mather (Scott), Jennifer Bonnar (Joe) and Richard Steeves (Heather) all of Ottawa, ON. She will also be missed by her nine great-grandchildren and her sisters-in-law, Mary Laurie of Woodstock, NB and Frances Steeves of Moncton, NB. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Bill; five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home (458-9170), 160 York Street on Thursday, December 23rd, 2010 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The funeral service will take place in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 23rd, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Muriel's honor may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the NB Lung Association.
