Harvey Scott MacEachern, 45, of Glace Bay, passed away suddenly Friday June 26, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Sydney, Feb. 9, 1964 , he was the son of Helen (Gallant) and the late Donald MacEachern.
He was a member of St. Theresa’s parish. Harvey served in the Royal Canadian Navy for several years on the HMSC Preserver during the Falklands War. He worked at the QE II Hospital in the information services department before retiring due to ill health. He was an avid golfer and a great storyteller and his family was very important to him. Harvey was a boxer in his younger years and won the Nova Scotia Provincial title.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa (MacLeod) MacEachern; his mother, Helen; brothers, Bernie (Norma), Ennismore, Ont., Michael (Joan), Westmount, Ronnie, Sydney; and by sisters, Mary Ellen, Halifax, Cathy (Jean Boudreau), Mt. Stewart, PEI, and Joan, Charlottetown PEI. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Ruby MacLeod; sister-in-law, Laurel Beth (Bruce) Smith, Glace Bay; brothers-in-law, Layton (Kim) MacLeod, Port Williams, N.S., Lincoln (Denise) MacLeod, Baddeck, N.S., and Lowell (Mary Lynn) MacLeod, Glace Bay. Harvey is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and by his beloved pets, Patches and Molly.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald in September of 2005 and by his father-in-law, Layton in March of this year.
Visitation for the late Harvey MacEachern will be held Tuesday, June 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church.
Memorial donations in Harvey's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
