(October 5, 1932 - December 22, 2010) - Passed peacefully away on December 22, 2010 in the presence of her family, Margaret Merchant, age 78 years. Leaving to mourn with precious memories four daughters: Florence Stone,?St. John's; Margaret, London, ON; Hazel House, St. John's; and Marie Smith (Steve) London, ON; three sons: Robert (Michelle Foss) Nanaimo, BC; Rodney (Lena) London, ON, and Nicholas, Bay L'Argent; one brother, James Banfield (Mary), Shea Heights; one sister, Irene Urquhart (Don) London, ON; two stepbrothers: John Hutchings (Rosalie) Cambridge, ON, George Hutchings, New York; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her partner, Ormand Sheppard; son-in-law, Joe Stone; granddaughter Lisa; also her late husband, Robert Merchant as well as a large number of family and friends in Bay L'Argent and St. John's too numerous to mention. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday, December 24, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. then resting at St. Hilda's Anglican Church on?December 25, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on December 26, 2010 from St. Hilda's Anglican Church at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at St. Hilda's Anglican Cemetery.
