It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ethel Kokoski, 90, a resident of Miner's Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, formerly, Bryan Street, Sydney. Ethel passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Alexander and Johnena (MacKenzie) Smith. Mom's greatest joy was her family.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Diane (Wes) Barrington, Sydney, Sandra (Fred) Johnston, Alberta, and Debbie (George) Smith, Moncton; sons, Ed (Joy), Fredericton, Danny (Jeannie), Ontario, and Rick (Monica), Sydney; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alex, sisters, Irene, Isabel and Anna, brother, Wilfred, grandchild, Kelly and great-grandchild, Carter.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday 11 a.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
