Vernon ELLIS
ELLIS, Vernon, Brookfield/ Stewiacke, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 24, 2010, at Elk Court, Brookfield.
Born in Wittenburg on December15, 1926, he was a son of the late Albert and Minnie (Cruickshank) Ellis. Vernon worked with his Dad trucking, was employed with the mail car (CNR), a bus driver for Charlie Cox, Debert and Acadian Lines and was employed by Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. He volunteered with the Stewiacke Fire Department and was fire chief. He was also a chauffeur for Ettinger Funeral Home, driving the funeral car.
Vernon was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful scene of humor. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Singer), daughter Sherry (Ken), grandchildren Ben Jeremiah and Daniel; great grandchildren Jayden and Justin; son Malcolm (Betty Lou), step grandchildren Shane and Tracey, step great grandchildren Rachelle, Emma, Haley and Isaac; sisters Frances Carter, Edie Angevine, Gladys Archibald, Elva (Don) Isnor; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by son Kenneth, brothers Earl and Ralph, sister-in-law Rena, brothers-in-law R. Archibald, L. Carter, C. Angevine.
Visitation was held Monday, December 27, in Ettinger Funeral Home, funeral service 11 am, Tuesday, in St. Andrews United Church, Stewiacke, Rev. David LeBlanc officiating. Donations in memory of Vernon may be made to St. Andrews United Church Stewiacke.
