The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, of Alfred Joseph Gallant of Summerside and formerly of Chelton, aged 83 years. Alfred was born on May 7, 1927, in Abrams Village to his late parents, Aubin and Sylvina (nee Bernard) Gallant. Beloved husband of Louise (nee Barriault) Gallant and loving father of Ron (Lynn) of Enfield, N.S., Dianne Gallant, Mike (Sylvia), Marcel (Rosalyn), Marcia (Blair) Martin, and Donnie (Paulette), all of P.E.I. Also lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by his brothers Norman, Leo, Matt, Eric and Paul and his sisters Jeanne, Leona and Lisa. Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his infant son Brian, his brother Edgar, sister Aline, step-brother Ted and step-sister Nellie. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday, Dec. 29, then to St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay, for funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening only, 6-9. A service of remembrance will be held at the funeral Home on Tuesday evening at 5:30 by the Knight of Columbus Council No. 2070, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 5 Summerside will hold a prayer service at 5:45 p.m. Memorial donations in Alfred's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Prince County Hospital Foundation or to St. Peter's Church Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.
