Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre on December 28, 2010, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents William John (1958), Ruby Marie (1998) and baby brother Donald Lewis (1958). Leaving to mourn his very loving wife, Evelyn (Dyke); daughters: Kimberly Harty (Dave) of Goulds and Krista Balwin (Damian) of Corner Brook; grandson, Joshua Harty; brothers: Herb and Larry (Avis Smith); sister, Roma Garland (Andy); brothers-in-law: Grenfell Dyke (Geraldine), Wayne Dyke (Karen); sister-in-law, Carolyn Pardy (John); special friends: Wayne Burry (Marilyn), Keith Fitzgerald (Margie) and Allan Brown (Phyllis); also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mt. Pearl, on Tuesday, December 28th from 7-9 p.m.; on Wednesday, December 29th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; and Thursday, December 30th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral service from Barrett's Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date.
