It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our daughter, sister and aunt, Elsie Burton, 72, on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney.
Born in Cape North, she was the daughter of Helen (Duchesney) Burton of North Sydney, and the late Kenneth Henry Burton.
She was employed for many of years as a personal care worker with handicapped children, the school for the blind, at Victoria County Memorial Hospital and several other health care facilities over her career.
Besides her mother Helen Burton, she is survived by her sisters, Lilly (Leroy) Pyke, North Sydney, Sally Burton, Lorraine Burton, both of Dartmouth, Peggy (Robert) Shaw, Margaree; her brothers, Angus Burton, Cape North, William (Blanche) Burton, Cape North, and John (Corinne) Burton, Frenchvale and also by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth H. Burton, her brothers, Danny, Henry and Victor and her companion, Bill Moffatt.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral service for Elsie will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial to take place at Aspy Bay United Church Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Dementia or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
