1924 - 2010 - It is with great sadness that the family of Thérèse Poirier-Daigle, of l'Auberge du Soleil, Dieppe formerly of Richibucto, wishes to announce her passing following a brief illness at the Dr Georges-L. Dumont on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 surrounded by her loving children and relatives. Born in Leominster, Mass in 1924, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. Poirier and the late Mélina Cormier, of Shediac and Grande-Digue. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Emery, her children Louis-Marcel (Andréa), Dieppe, Dianne (Graham), Wellington, ON, Roland (Naomi), Boucherville, QC, Jean-Maurice (Nicole), l'Ange-Gardien, QC, Juliette, Ottawa, ON, Chantal, Orlean, ON, Léopold (Marc), Gatineau, QC, Bertrand (Céline), Sept-Îles, QC, Charline, Gatineau, QC. A daughter, Murielle (Jean-Guy), Montréal died in 2001. She also leaves two brothers, Roger Poirier, Oasis d'Or, Dieppe and Bernard (Antoinette) Poirier, Moncton and a sister-in law, Géraldine Poirier, Bathurst. A brother, Leopold and a sister Jeannine preceeded her. She leaves also several grand-children, Gisèle and René Daigle, Darren (Valerie) Lutes, Dennie (Carole) Lutes, Ginette Desprès, Marc Daigle, Kyla Copp, Aimie and Manuel, Justine, Pierre-Étienne Daigle, Vanessa Aubin and her great grand-children Carole Gautreau, Xavier, Olivier and Byron Lutes, Mathieu, Melissa and Thomas Lake. A former school teacher in Pointe-Sapin - Claire Fontaine, Thérèse raised her family while in St-Louis-de-Kent, in Richibucto and in Sept-Îles for 25 years before returning to Richibucto. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-mother, she was always there to listen, to comfort, or to celebrate an achievement. A resident of l'Auberge du Soleil, she was well liked and appreciated by fellow residents and by the staff.
Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home in Richibucto with visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and on Friday at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral mass. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 31st, 2010 at 11:00 am at St-Louis-de-Gonzague Roman Catholic Church in Richibucto. Interment will be held in the Family plot in the parish cemetery in Aldouane. In Thérèse's memory, donations may be made to l'Arbre de l'Espoir (Fondation Dr Georges L. Dumont) or a donation of your choice. Special thanks to the staff of Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital and l'Auberge du Soleil for their devoted care to Thérèse and their compassion to members of the family.
