Kurt Kleim
KLEIM - Kurt passed away on December 17, 2010, in the Swift Current Hospital at the age of 86 years. The memorial service will be held on January 8, 2011, at Riverview Village Estates in Swift Current. Kurt is survived by his wife, Rea, of 62 years; and his two sons: Gene (Gail) of Pennant, and their children Randy and Rodney; and Kerry of Calgary. Kurt is survived by his brothers, Rudolph and Art, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special niece, Olga Wohlgemuth, who at 2 ½ years of age, was raised by Kurt's mother after the death of Kurt's sister, Klara. Kurt was predeceased by his parents, Justina and George; brothers, Ted and Eric; sisters, Klara, Gertrude, Hanna, Headwig, and Linda. Kurt's parents brought him to the Kleim farm when he was a few months old. Kurt married Rea Spencer, a school teacher on October 29, 1948, and together they raised two sons. Kurt took great pride in his farm and cattle. He loved to watch things grow, including the vegetables and fruit in his garden which he generously shared with people in the community. Besides farming, Kurt had an interest and gifted talent in singing while playing his guitar, and his perfected wood work items that he made in his shop. Kurt was known as a very kind, generous, private, quiet, and humorous man. He extended a helping hand to people in need of his kindness and generosity. Kurt developed a special bond with his twin grandsons and daughter-in-law. After spending eighty-five years on the farm that Kurt was so proud of, Rea and Kurt moved into Riverview Village Estates in Swift Current in November 2009. Kurt will be deeply missed by his family and friends who knew him.
