Carol Elizabeth Jenner ("Nin") passed away with her children by her side on Thursday, December 30th in the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on June 26th, 1944 in Saint John, Carol was the daughter of Marjorie (Whipple) and the late Frank Jenner. Carol is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her mother Marjorie, her brother Douglas Jenner (Anita), her daughter Alice McGovern (Michael), her son Daniel Sutton (Melda), her two precious grandchildren Brandon and Alexis Sutton, (who were the light of her life), her two uncles and many nieces, nephews cousins. Carol was a caring and devoted full time mother/grandmother who cherished her family. Following graduation from Vocational School, Carol work as a legal secretary, a Commissioner of Oaths and a court stenographer eventually retiring in 2005 from Rehabilitation Alternatives Limited as an administrative assistant. Carol was actively involved with the Island View School, Elections Canada, and the Church of the Good Shepherd over the years. Carol loved her grandbabies and spent every chance she could with them. "Ninny G" or "Nin" as she was fondly referred to, took great joy in caring for them as toddlers, then after school and during their summer vacation as they got older. Carol made wonderful memories for her children and grandchildren over the years, taking pictures and journaling their adventures, which they will forever cherish. Carol also had an amazing love for animals (her furry grandchildren) and found great comfort from their warm companionship over the years. A faithful Red Sox fan, Carol never missed a game and loved to be sitting in Fenway Park enjoying a Fenway Frank and a Coke. Carol took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens, she enjoyed reading, making preserves and could often be found knitting or crocheting while watching an old movie. A woman of strong faith and friendship, Carol got a great sense of peace and comfort from the clergy and close friends and family who visited, sent cards and prayed for her. These blessings gave her the strength that sustained her day by day. Donations in Carol's memory can be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the Saint John Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor's choice. Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception.
