The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, June 28, 2009, of Nancy Grace MacFarlane (nee Shirky) of Fernwood, Bedeque, P.E.I., age 75 years. Nancy was born on February 9, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, to her late parents, Louis and Inez (nee White) Shirky. Beloved wife of the late Douglas MacFarlane and loving mother of Peter (Carole) of Charlottetown, Ranald (Melanie) of Fernwood, and Daniel of Alberta. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Ethan, Mary-Lynn and Oliver, along with several nieces, nephews and friends. Survived by her brother and sisters, Sylvia Heffner of California, Lois Johnson of Ohio and Richard of Illinois and her sister-in-law, Constance Carruthers of Summerside. Besides her husband and her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Wayne.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Thursday, July 2, 2009, then to Bedeque United Church, Bedeque, for funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the North Bedeque Pioneer Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations in Nancy’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Bedeque United Church or the Friends of Lucy Maude Montgomery School would be greatly appreciated.
