ALLEN, Edith Mae - 92, of Villa St. Joseph du-Lac, formerly of Pleasant Valley, Yarmouth Co., passed away in the Villa on December 28, 2010. Born December 21, 1918, in Richfield, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Ida Mae (Harding) Nickerson. Edith was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Missionary Society and a past member of the Women's Institute. She was employed at Miller & Gordon's box factory in Carleton in her younger years. She loved to knit and she loved to sing. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Allen, Pleasant Valley; son, Richard (Marg)Allen, Beaver River; brothers, Lendal (Bernadine) Nickerson, Carleton; Alton (Norma) Nickerson, Forest Glen; sister, Laurene (Robert) Stewart, Edmonton, A.B.; grandchildren, Carl Allen, Chelsea, Lunenburg Co.; Jason (Irene) Allen, Edmonton, A.B.; Blair Allen, Yarmouth; great-grandchildren, Amadeus and Oliver Allen, both of Annapolis Co. She was predeceased by husband, Austin; sons, Gene and Gary in infancy; brother, Laurel; sister, Doris Whitehouse and sister, Arlene in infancy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Thursday, December 30 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Friday, December 31 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Michael Cannell officiated. Interment followed in Forest Glen Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
