It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, brother and grandfather, Ross Roland Anthony, of Sydney, on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Harboustone Enhanced Care, where he resided.
The son of the late Frank and Grace Anthony, Ross was born on Jan. 29, 1937, and raised in Sydney.
For over 30 years, he was an employee of Transit Cape Breton (formerly Sydney & Whitney Pier Bus Co,). Ross loved his job as a bus driver and made many friends from several generations in Sydney and surrounding areas during his time there. He was truly loved.
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Brian (Louise), Blaine (Debbie) and Bob (Kim); grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Kristan, Meagan, Shania, Terri and Sarah; sisters, Norma (Jim) Postlewaite, Sydney, Lyle Anthony and Freda Anthony, both of Ottawa; brother-in-law, Bill Burton, Sydney and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Shirley, in infancy; sister, Frances Burton and brother, Gordie, in infancy.
There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at United Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Hussey officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
