Alan Goldie

Alan died peacefully December 30th at the Hospice of Greater Saint John, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by Beryl, his beloved wife of 54 years. Survived by two daughters Sandra Goldie (Jay), and Joanne Billard (Sam) and four grandchildren; Alan, Maggie, Nicolas and Claire. Predeceased by his brother Doug and lovingly remembered by his sister Babs (John) and brother Max. Born in Northern England, Alan was a veteran of WWII. He trained in Canada as a pilot for the RAF and in 1948 he immigrated to begin his life long career with The Bank of Nova Scotia. The 1949 his childhood sweetheart Beryl joined him and they were married. In 1960 he became a Fellow of the Canadian Bankers' Association. His career with the bank took him to the Maritimes and then the Caribbean. In 1986 Alan retired as Managing Director of the Bank of Nova Scotia, International Division, in Nassau, Bahamas. His successful career with Scotiabank allowed Beryl and Alan to live an exceptional life. He adored his wife and two daughters. His grandchildren, Alan, Maggie, Nicolas and Claire were a constant source of delight and he was very proud of them. Sandra and Joanne greatly appreciated the kindness of his friends. Special thanks to the exceptional staff at Bobby's Hope House for their gracious support and respectful care.
