Van Tassel, E. Ruth - Following a long illness, Edna Ruth Carter passed away in Ottawa on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010. Born in Saint John, N.B.,, the only child of the late Freeman Carter and Daisy Mailman. Survived by her beloved husband, Richard Van Tassel; daughters, Rachael Van Tassel and Rosalind Helgason (David). Loving grandmother of Richard and Katrina Helgason and Arthur Barkhouse. Member of Beta Sigma Phi (Theta Master Chapter, Ottawa). Her cremated remains will go to Bridgetown, N.S., to rest with her parents. Visitation was on Jan. 2 at Pinecrest Visitation Center, Ottawa, followed by a memorial service in the Pinecrest Chapel. A reception followed.
