October 4, 1936 - January 1, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend. Sammy passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Cecilia, daughter Sharon Hummel (Stephen), son Melvin (Stephanie) and two grandsons, Nicholas and Stephen, as well as extended family and many cherished friends.
Sammy came to Canada in 1968 from Malaysia and had a successful career in mining for over 32 years, first in Pine Point, N.W.T., then in Logan Lake, B.C. He retired in 2000 and moved to Kamloops in 2004. He will always be remembered for his jovial personality.

The family would like to thank the Renal Unit staff at RIH and Dr. Michaud for their outstanding support and care for the many years Sammy was on dialysis.

Prayers will be recited in Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola St., on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at
7:00 p.m.

Father Derrick Cameron will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
